The iPhone and a blindspot for bloggers.

Okay, I'm not going to be posting over and over again about the iPhone.  Well, maybe I will.  For Zolved, it's a big deal because we get a lot of searches, hits and questions about iPod problems (the iPod zChannel covers them well and we're going to develop other zChannels based on that format).  So we know that the iPhone will eventually be giving people similar headaches (and we'll be there for them! ).

But what struck me was how poorly the blogosphere covered it. Don't get me wrong, blogs are great.  I read a lot of blogs and read them religiously. But bloggers are quick to seem high and mighty, preach first and ask questions later.  Blogging is a great platform for the dissemination of information, especially in way and situations that ink-on-paper platforms just can't function. The blogosphere covered the announcement of the iPhone perfectly, but failed on it's functionality.

If you only read blogs, the iPhone has slow speeds and difficult to type on.  This was based on the lack of 3G support and the touch screen. But is a 2.5G phone really all that slow? And the multi-touch screen is completely new.  Any critique of it before using is highly flawed.

For me personally, the iPhone is a must have .... after 2 or 3 generations. Well, I was adamant about that until I read two hands on reviews (from the Chicago Sun-Times and Time Magazine) of this device. Now I'm thinking I should start saving pennies.
