iPhone: Can I also make phone calls?

I come from the KISS (keep it simple stupid) school of thought. So anybody who does not believe in that can move on. I don’t want to further complicate your complicated lives.

But in my opinion phones today are getting soo complicated that it is becoming hard to actually make a phone call (check out this funny youtube video).

Now the iPhone can play music & videos, has inbuilt wifi (with which you can access the internet), a safari web browser, bluetooth, push-email (coming soon), camera (almost forgot that) and host of other features that we’ll probably know only after it has been released.

Now these are all great features, but how and when would I use it? Also my guess is that we know less than 20% of the features and use less than 10% of the features available on Smartphones. So basically I’m paying $499 (in the case of an iPhone) for features that I do NOT use.

Now don’t get me wrong here, I am not singling out the iPhone, but really all Smartphones. Isn’t it time that they (phone manufacturers) find a simpler way to make a phone call? Why don’t they get better at say voice recognition so I don’t have to search & dial a number or scream at the phone for it to understand me before I make a phone call?

When my 3 year old Siemens phone (picture) stops making phone calls is when Ill get a new one. Hopefully by then someone would figure out an easier way to make calls.

And for those who live the digital lifestyle please bookmark this site..I’m sure you will need it soon!!
