On the vista of Vista, 10 myths exposed.

Gotta give props where props are due: Deb Shinder over at TechRepublic lists out 10 popular, yet misleading assertions about Windows Vista (found via Gizmodo).  The props are for Deb alone, whose list includes both the good and the bad of the new OS.  Her first point relates to our earlier posts:

Myth #1: You'll have to buy a new, high-end PC to run Vista

This is contrary to my own assertion that I made before Vista was available to consumers. I still stand by this as the best advice for the average consumer.  Now if you're used to adding RAM to your machine, I don't count you as an average consumer.  I mean, if you know what a driver is, you probably qualify as tech-savvy.

So I will grant you that maybe you can run Vista on some, not-too-old, almost-meets-the-minimum-specs machine. Or you could stay with the familiar, currently-running-fine, at-least-I-know-what-works XP.
