Two screens are better than one.

Intel's look into the future laptop looks possible (instead of the normal pipe dream).

Intel's concept computer, a "metro notebook" looks like the kind of convenience-first outlook that we like. Thin and light with the carrying case built in (that is to say the outside is leather and has straps). The key function is the second screen on the outside, which I could see being used for push-email or RSS feeds.  Intel describes it as a "E-ink always-on non-volatile info read out."

While the intern looks up "non-volatile" (I think it means it doesn't start bar fights), I'm really liking the possibilities of E-ink.  It doesn't use a backlights (like a book), it only uses energy to change the display (like a book) and it readable in direct sunlight (like a book). You'll still see people claiming that "all e-books suck" but this technology is the closest anyone has come to recreating the most durable technology every to exist: ink-on-paper.
