Yahoo tightens war against Google

It’s a noon alarm, and at last Yahoo wakes up. We have been noticing that Google kept on adding so many tools and features in their product line.

    Vs

Yahoo had been a silent spectator, until this week; when they made the whole world feel their presence in the race. There were some recent waves in the Yahoo family!

Yahoo Web Messenger: Middle of this week Yahoo shoots their first counter attack against Google. Google had integrated their chat with the web service sometime back. Bit late for Yahoo, but they came up with Yahoo Web Messenger this Wednesday. Yahoo has an obvious upper hand on their huge user base and proficiency in graphics. But Google on the other hand has integrated web messenger with G-mail (51 million global users) resulting a better concentration for the users. In response to this Yahoo is coming up with Single Ajax Interface For Yahoo Mail  (250 Million) integrating yahoo web messenger, with cool graphics.

Yahoo didn’t put much effort to announce this step to the extent that they didn’t put a word in their own home page. I don’t know if it’s a part of their strategy otherwise their PR failed to deliver. They could not spread this message effectively, as we don’t see many news agencies or blogs covering this launch.

Yahoo Photos stoops down for Flickr : The latest buzz in web world is the smart strategic move by shutting down Yahoo photos and by promoting Flickr. This is one area where Google doesn’t have their footprints and Yahoo has rightly decided to exploit the situation. The added boost to this move is yahoo’s decision to include video uploads feature in Flickr . By this move Yahoo wants to make sure that they are way ahead in the race.

Now lets watch out for the next move – will it be Google’s reply or Yahoo continues firing.

I have been a Yahoo user for long time and now switched to Google Services which I've found reliable enough. IMy opinion is that Google Service package is complete. Also the latest feature iGoogle is quite good if you want to build your own start page. I appreciated the work Google did very much.
