iTunes on Vista finally fixed? Microsoft, Apple hopes so.

Although users should use the "Eject iPod" button in iTunes, the lure of "Safely remove hardware" is too tempting for many. Hopefully it will no longer corrupt their iPods.

Here's the link to download the update. This is the second attempt to fix the problem of Safely Remove Hardware corrupting an iPod. It seems to me that it would have been easier to write a mini-program that would prevent users from doing this for iPods.

If hardware="ipod", then stop process/display warning: "Use the Eject iPod feature in iTunes to safely remove this device."

But hey, I'm not a programmer. It's good to see Apple and Microsoft working together to solve this issue. While they compete with each other in the marketplace, we need these companies to collaborate when their consumers congregate (there's probably about 80 million iPods synced to Windows machines).  We'll see how the iPhone does with Vista (or even XP for that matter).
