Western Digital's very stylish 750-Gbyte 'Caviar' Drive
Western Digital has released a new class of high capacity PMR SATA drives - Caviar SE16.
With 3-Gb/s transfer rates, a 16-Mbyte cache, these 750-Gbyte hard drives come with the company's SecurePark technology. Basically this holds the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is not operating.
An add-on is StableTrac technology that reduces system vibration and stabilizes the spinning platters for accurate tracking during read and write operations.
IntelliSeek calculates the maximum seeks speed enabling lower power consumption, noise and vibration.
And all this for a price of $250 which seems to be quite a bargain for the classy drive...
