PeakStream and Feedburner under Google ownership

Google has acquired PeakStream and Feedburner, which it claims can help in building products and features that will benefit it users.

Google has confirmed acquiring PeakStream, a developer of application interfaces for massively parallel processing. This deal marks Google’s entry into the developer space for multi-core CPUs and general purpose graphics processors (GPGPUs).

Google plans to use the company and its resources to better in-house development for its servers and datacenter development, as GPGPUs have the ability to multiply the floating point performance of today’s supercomputers. An official announcement has not been made, but an early report published by The Register already has been confirmed by a Google spokesperson, who was quoted in an article by the Wall Street Journal. “We believe the PeakStream team's broad technical expertise can help build products and features that will benefit our users,” Google said to the Register.

Another significant acquisition for Google is FeedBurner,  a provider of feed distribution and management tools for bloggers and podcasters. FeedBurner has already been connected to Google’s Blogger for some time and now becomes an integral part of the blogging platform. The company also offers a feed advertising platform, which publishes in-feed ads as well as RSS-driven ads.
