Microsoft Mediaroom to enhance your TV experience

Microsoft announces availability of Mediaroom, an update to and new name for its IPTV software platform.

Thanks to web-based applications, television experience has reached a new level that’s gone beyond the TV set. More connected entertainment experiences are opening up at the flick of a button with service providers trying to differentiate their services from the others.

Now, giving couch potatoes more reason to smile, Microsoft has announced the availability of Mediaroom, which is nothing but an update to and a new name for its IPTV software platform. Mediaroom features several new capabilities including in-home personal music and photo sharing, dynamic picture-in-picture capabilities and digital terrestrial television support.

For developers, the new Microsoft Mediaroom Application Development toolkit provides a tool from which to develop TV-based applications that will run under Microsoft Mediaroom.
