Got AT&T? Get DSL for $10.
It's extremely hard to find on their website, but the FCC forced them to offer reasonably priced, broadband access to the Internet.
You basically have to start the application process through the AT&T website in order to see the $10 a month offer. That's what any reasonable person describe as "hidden." That's also what any reasonable person would call "slimy ISP behaviour." As part of the AT&T (nee SBC) merger with BellSouth, the FCC forced AT&T to offer this low cost access.
Anyway, if you or anyone you know is still on dial-up or doesn't have access to the Internet from home, this may be a good option for broadband access (for AT&T customers). What will be a better option is when stand-alone DSL is offered (you don't have to buy a landline connection also). It's great news that the FCC has pushed for stand-alone DSL, especially since the FCC originally supported the phone companies when they argued they couldn't offer DSL without a landline connection also.
