Western Digital 500GB drive boosts DVRs

Western Digital has launched a third external drive beyond its desktop and notebook models. The My Library Video Edition DVR Expander can boost the capacity of video recorders for recording more shows.

Ever since external drives were introduced, storage of data no longer became an issue. Every file or clipping you downloaded from the Web had a place outside the desktop or a laptop. And that was it. Seems nobody thought of extending their utility beyond computers, until Western Digital came up with My Library Video Edition DVR Expander.

The drive can boost the capacity of video recorders for recording more shows. It can plug into any external SATA port on a compatible DVR and adds an extra 500GB of space over and above whatever is included inside the recorder itself, adding up to 300 hours of standard NTSC video or 60 hours of typical HD footage.

Now you can build up longer archives of your favorite TV shows.
