CNN.com goes for a makeover

CNN has staged a 'global relaunch' of CNN.com so as to provide a better experience to the uses of its news website.

Automobile companies have been up to it for long. Tweaking their products a bit here and there and offering them as brand new models to be in the reckoning in a competitive market place. CNN, taking a leaf out of their book, has staged a ‘global relaunch’ of CNN.com, ostensibly for getting repeated clicks to its news website. At more than 24 million unique users each month which it claims to attract, CNN wanted to retain its prime position and is offering users a greater degree of personalization.

David Payne, SVP and General Manager said on the CNN blog, "What will you find? First, the same laser-like focus on the news, particularly what’s happening now, that has made us the #1 news site online. Second, a cleaner, simplified interface that should make consuming the news an easy and enjoyable experience."

Obviously, hundreds of developers worked on thousands of lines of code to make this happen. However, according to CNN, the revamp is intended to be ‘subtle’ and users will see gradual change as new features are added in coming months.
