Nokia nabs Twango. Man-dance with the iPhone continues.
With the upload-n-share anything website, the cellphone giant could have a all-in-one feature on their hands.
GigaOm reported today that Nokia bought this website/technology company Twango for $96.8 million. That's, like, a lot money. But with the iPhone hype turning into satisfied customers, these cellphone companies have to address what they offer on their phones, and how well it works.

Om Malik describes Twango as "a combo of YouTube, Flickr, Shutterfly, Photobucket and Xdrive" which struck me as oddly repetitive since I'm pretty sure the middle three are just photo-sharing sites. But I'm not saying anything since GigaOm is like the tech journalist blog site (full disclosure: Om recently said I'm witty, sort of). |
Twango says their stuff "is unique in providing easy ways to get media into your account from any source, versatility when it comes to sharing your media, and powerful ways to "project" that media out to all the places on the Web that matter to you."
So what that comes down to is that Twango makes it easier for you to get your media (pictures, movies, documents) off the creation device (camera, phone, computer) and out on the World Wide Tangled Web. A Nokia cellphone (if they still call them that) that runs Twango well will definitely keep Nokia in a good stance against the iPhone onslaught.
