World's first HD Video Walkman from Sony
Sony has announced the “World’s First HD Video Walkman” in Europe, a portable HD video playback deck designed for remote shooting environments.
If you shoot (footage, I mean) for a living, then this might be of interest to you. Others are likely to see little utility in the GV-HD700E, which Sony claims is the “world’s first HD video Walkman”.
When designing this product, Sony probably had amateur filmmakers -- who are out on the field with their camcorders -- in mind. So they can monitor their footage back in the hotel. The retro-looking device reminds one of the cassette recorders of the 70s (Sony, for one, could have concentrated a bit more on the aesthetics). |

Sony GV-HD700E features a 7-inch widescreen LCD display and an all-scan function that displays 100 per cent of the recorded shot without the cropping found on most camcorder LCDs. It is equipped with an array of interfaces, including HDMI, i.LINK, USB and an AV multi-connector featuring video, audio, and S-Video outputs. Memory stick slot will enable tape-to-flash card conversions.
Expect the product to hit the European market in September.
