Well, if you have another device on the wireless network that has no problems connecting with the same SSID and WEP/WPA key, and you are able to see the SSID network from the PS3.
Honestly, then is just configuration error - double and triple check settings, make sure you are choosing the right encryption. You could turn the belkin to unencryped WiFi, but really that's not a long term solution if you live around ANYONE else (ie not on a Farm)
The only other option is to run cable directly to the PS3.
**HERE IS THE LOGIC **
GIVEN:
A) If the PS3 can detect the network, then its wireless card is operational (ie. (PS3 works)
B) If other device is able to connect to the wireless network with same settings, (Settings Work/Are correct)
C) Therefore router's network card is working correctly. (Belkin Works)
IF A and B and C are accurate, then a network exists, and is viable. Therefor either there is outside interference, or a misconfiguration.
TO test for interferance, see if the wireless device can connect to the network in the same general area as the PS3. IF no connection then change the location of the PS3.
Some cordless phones have been reported to to interfer with WiFi signals, so if you have the base near the PS3, try disconnecting or relocating the phone. Like wise grounded metal planes or significant thickness of construction materials - including unshielded high power lines, florescent lighting or lots of low voltage cabling can create EMF and via inductance - interference.
** NOTE: I've NEVER seen this occur in practice - heard about urban myths of such, but its really between this, security issue or PEBKAC error.
So if the above doesn't resolve the issue, have a friend run the troubleshooting process for you again, including testing the WEP/WPA key.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to check and see if the Belkin's Wireless network is being restricted via MAC address, and if so add the PS3's address to the authorized device listing.
Good luck
