The basic commands are:
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh winsock reset
If you still get access denied, make sure you're a full administrator. In Vista and 7, that means starting an elevated command prompt. If you are, consider making it into a batch file and creating a scheduled task to run it: That runs it as SYSTEM, the highest privileged account.
If spyware has dug that deep into the system, you might have to reinstall or use process monitor to find the registry keys it fails on, then reset their permissions manually.

Just wondered, the tech guy at Talk Talk seemed to think that as in command prompt it's saying echo request failed that I need the command prompt to fix this or to repair tcp/ip - hope this makes sense to you as I'm not really sure what i'm doing, just wanted your thoughts on this as well if you dont mind. thank you

I'm not sure i'm doing the right thing if you don't mind helping, and really need an idiots guide of how to sort it out please......x When i go into connect I can see my router but it says connected with limited access but shows a full signal. When i click on the internet just keeps saying can't display this page. When i go into connect to a network and right click on the router and go into status is shows IPV connectivity: Not connect and I am assuming this is the problem but can't solve it I would be really grateful if you knew what to do. Thank you very much - Posted by: foxyshadis at 05 Nov 16:27 permalinkYou can always try these, but be warned, they're meant for server 2008:
coreygilmore.com/uploads/2009/05/winsock-reg.txt
coreygilmore.com/uploads/2009/05/winsock2-reg.txt
Rename them to .reg and run them to import the settings, then restart.
I'd recommend a reinstall of windows and the network drivers though.
