You can easily transfer your files to your Mac. Purchase a USB Flash Drive. Depending how much data you have will help you decide how much memory the flash drive should have. Usually a 16 GB USB flash drive should do. Here is how you do it.
1. Insert your usb drive into a usb your PC. It will appear in side your "My Computer" icon.
2. Navigate to it and double click on it, it will open a window.
3. Open up your my documents folder.
4. Drag the files that you want to the usb flash drive window. They will copy to the usb drive.
5. After you are done copying pull the usb drive out of the pc and put it in a usb slot in the mac. It will appear on your desktop.
6. Double click on the usb drive icon on your desktop. It will open up a window and you will see you file.
7. Drag the files off of the USB drive to your mac desktop and they will copy there. After they are all copied to you mac desktop you can drag and drop them into the mac folders that you want.
8. To eject the usb drive safely from your mac drag it to your trash, when it's over the trash the word "eject" will come up. Then let go of the usb drive and wait 15 seconds. Now it's safe to take it out of your mac. If you miss this step and just pull it out, don't worry, it's just that if you do it too many time it may damage the flash drive (not your mac)

All of your pictures will open up with no problem. If your documents are Microsoft Office documents (word, etc.) then they will open up if you have Microsoft Office installed on your mac.
