My internet browsers wont let me connect to certain websites. On google Chrome i get one of 2 error messages error 101 or error 102. On IE it just says page canot be displayed. My system is also really slow, it takes like 5 minutes to load a page. I have done alot of troubleshooting and cant seem to get this problem worked out. can someone HELP PLEASE Configuration: Dell Inspiron E1505 2006, windows XP, IE 6, Google Chrome, History: I just recently got infected with the security tool virus. It was horrible, it messed my whole computer up. Files wouldnt open, constant pop ups trying to get me to buy there program. I managed to get rid of the main virus and install avast. Yet somehow i still have alot of infections. Mostly Spyware and Addware stuff. I really dont know where to start? |

Burn it to disc, and restart your system to load the CD. From there you can run the antivirus, delete or replace suspicious files on your system, run regedit, and browse the internet without the virus interfering.
Also, download the latest hosts file from MVPS and copy it to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\. Even if the virus is gone, its entries in the hosts file can still be redirecting you to bad web sites. (Spybot is also good at catching this.)
If all of that fails, be prepared to completely reinstall your system. It sucks but sometimes it's just what has to be done.
If so, I would scan & reboot a couple of times. That might get your machine running a lot better and thus allow you to further clean up your machine.
I also suggest you get http://www.ccleaner.com to remove temporary internet files and so forth.
Ultimately,
After being infected and running into many issues, re-installing this or fixing that is not going to end your troubles.
Viruses and Malware can currupt and delete important files, you'll never know exactly to what extent your system is corrupted.
I recomend that you back up any needed files, such as pictures, purchased songs.. movies, games and documents..
Then using a Windows install disk, re-format the computer and do a clean install of the Operating system
Then re-install your programs, then install Anti-virus.. then restore your files.
I know it sounds like a lot of work. but it will save you so much more time in the future, by not having to deal with a corrupted computer.
plus it will be like new :)
- If you dont have the Disks, dont worry, just get the serial of your current OS before you re-install. and download a disk from the internet, install the new OS, then call microsoft they'll help you activated (assuming it is a valid license), you might even have the sticker on your pc showing the Serial Number is valid.
