I came to this site for help with my ipod not being recognized on itunes. I tried solution number one and deleted my entire itunes library from both itunes and my ipod. I followed the instructions to the letter and now I'm totally frustrated and without all my music which has taken much time and money to collect. I doubt there's anyway to retrieve my library. There is a step in the instruction which asks you to delete your ipod and itunes folder, then goes on to say now empty your recycling bin. I did this with some doubt and now my stuff is gone. You also said your music won't be gone but you can back it up if you want. I figured since you said the music wouldn't be gone, I didn't really have to back it up. Stupid me! Configuration: itunes and ipod nano History: ipod and itunes trouble. |

The instructions below assume you are using a windows based PC and not a mac. (for the purpose of this explanation Disk & Drive refer to your logical Internal HDD)
WARNING: Please disconnect any Hard Drives, I-Pod, Mp3 players, or Thumb Drives plugged into your computer before attempting below.

http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23069-order,1/description.html
1-Install Program
2- Run Program
3- Select language & press green check mark
4- At next screen press red X
5- Next select 1st Icon on Left hand column (magnifying glass over drive)
6- Select "ON FIXED DISK #1" Drive if available (If not choose drive with your appropriate drive letter)
7- Then select green Check Mark
8- On the top toolbar Select Tools
9- Select find lost files.
10- Allow scan to run for approx. 4 hours (varies based on HDD size)
