The ipod can synch w/itunes and transfer music and do everything else it's supposed to do. But sometimes the clickwheel has no effect even with the hold switch turned off. Thanks a lot! And further advice you can provide would be great!
- Posted by: alex_nemese_8694 at 10 Feb 08:36 permalinkOkay I figured this out. The clickwheel does not have a very good connection to the motherboard. The clickwheel works when I put pressure on the bottom part of the ipod mini, where the connection is. In other words, I have to hold the connection together while using the clickwheel. This clickwheel design was perhaps not the best of engineering ideas (a differerent type of connector would be better IMO).
- Posted by: alex_nemese_8694 at 10 Feb 13:17 permalinkSince it worked sometimes and not others, I thought the connection could be weak. I think I just sort of accidentally realized, after messing around with it for awhile, that putting pressure on the bottom worked. So I deduced that the connector must be in that area. I took the bottom cap off, reseated the connector (which is the first thing you see below the cap), put the bottom cap back on and now it works all the time. Since they put the connector right below that plastic end cap, it can be affected by outside pressure. I think they should have designed it differently.
