During the course of troubleshooting, it may become neccessary for a Comcast Support Representative to connect to your PC and remotely take control of it. This process, referred to as "Remote Assist", is always optional for you as a Comcast customer. Comcast Support Representatives are unable to take control of your PC without your express permission (see steps 7 and 8 below). You may also opt to allow Comcast Support Representatives to have "view only" access - which means they will be able to see the contents of your screen, but have no control of your PC. To establish a remote assistance session, follow the steps outlined below.
  1. Visit http://www.comcastsupport.com/helpme
  2. If you're using Windows XP SP2, a security warning will likely appear. Click anywhere in the Information Bar and select Install ActiveX Control...

  3. A dialog box will then appear. Select Install.

  4. Another dialog box will appear, again select Install

  5. Review the license agreement, and then select Agree to continue

  6. Enter your email address in the space provided, and place a check in the box labelled Passkey enabled for the session.

  7. Select the Grant Full Control button. This should change the status from Disabled to Enabled. At this point you will also need to provide the Comcast Support Representative your passkey. If at any point you wish to end the remote control access for the Support Representative, click the Stop Remote Access button.

  8. When the Comcast Support Representative connects to your PC, you will receive a confirmation window (see screenshot below). Click Accept Access to give the representative access to your PC.

  9. Click to enlarge
