This procedure describes how to configure a computer for Cox High Speed Internet service.

Manual Solution

Configuration Information

The Cox High Speed Internet software CD should configure TCP/IP settings automatically. If your computer required the installation of a Network Interface Card (NIC) and you are having difficulties proceeding with the installation, you may need to configure TCP/IP using DHCP.

If your computer is already part of a network, you must modify the network configuration on your computer to connect to the Cox High Speed Internet, which involves one of the following actions:

  • Changing your computer's configuration, disconnecting from the network, and then connecting to the Cox High Speed Internet
  • Using another computer which is not connected to the network to connect to the Cox High Speed Internet
  • Using the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service to obtain the following items:
    • IP Address
    • Default gateway
    • Domain Name Service (DNS) address
