Manual Solution

1. Start Netscape Communicator

2. Select Edit from the menu and choose Preferences

3. In the left-hand navigation bar under Mail and Newsgroups choose Identity

If Identity is not visible, click on the triangle next to Mail and Newsgroups

Your name: Your name as it should appear on messages you send

Email address: You Email address (including @cox.net)

Organization This box is optional

4. In the left-hand navigation bar under Mail & Newsgroups choose Mail Servers. If Mail Servers is not visible, click on the triangle next to Mail & Newsgroups

5. On the right under the section Outgoing Mail Server, in the box labeled Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: type in your outgoing email server (click here to find your outgoing email server)

6. Open the Mail Server Info window

  • If you are editing an existing e-mail account, click on the account to highlight it and click Edit
  • If you are adding or replacing an e-mail account, the Incoming Mail Servers box must be empty

To remove an existing account, click on the account name to highlight it and click Delete, then click OK to the prompt and click Add

  • Server Name: Type in your incoming email server (click here to find your incoming email server)
  • Server Type: Select POP
  • User Name: Type the name portion of your e-mail address, all lowercase (everything before @cox.net)
  • Place a check next to Remember Password if you do not want to be prompted for a password each time you check your mail

7. Click OK to close the Mail Server Info window

8. Click OK again to finish
