Why is the external Ethernet modem the only Windows XP supported modem at this time for BellSouth FastAccess Internet Service?

BellSouth has been working with our modem manufacturers to test and ensure that the products we use are fully compatible with FastAccess DSL. Since Ethernet modems do not require modem drivers, they need less testing and may be offered at this time. As modem testing is finalized with manufacturers, additional options will become available.
