BellSouth dial-up connection speed varies.
I am having problems with my BellSouth dial up connection speed to the Internet.

Under normal circumstances, the speed at which you connect to the Internet depends upon:
- The speed of your modem
- The quality and compatibility of the modems at each end of the connection
- The local network configuration
- The number of users who are trying to access the same site.
Also, the connection rate that shows on your dialer represents the speed at which you made your initial connection to your ISP. This speed does not remain constant throughout your Internet session; it fluctuates throughout the session based on the factors described above. Because of these variables, most modems do not achieve their maximum connection speed on a consistent basis. Also, there are differences in throughput rates (the speed at which data moves) when you are downloading and uploading files. You can visit the Modem Speed Test Page (http://www.speed.fastaccess.com/) to see how fast your modem works. If you would like a faster connection to the Internet, consider BellSouth(R) FastAccess(R) DSL, with downstream speeds up to 6 Mbps.
