To set up an Outlook 2000 e-mail account, do the following:

  1. Click the Outlook icon to open this program.


  2. Note: If the icon is not on your desktop, click Start and then look for the icon in your list of programs.


    The Outlook main page displays.

  3. Click the Tools menu.




  4. Click Accounts.
  5. The Internet Accounts dialog box displays.

  6. Click the Mail tab.




  7. From the Add button drop-down list, select Mail.


  8. The Your Name screen displays.

  9. In the Display name field, type the name that you want to display in your outgoing e-mail messages.




  10. Click Next.


  11. The Internet E-mail Address screen displays.

  12. In the E-mail address field, type your complete Bellsouth e-mail address. For example, johnsmith@bellsouth.net.




  13. Click Next.


  14. The E-mail Server Names screen displays.

  15. From the My incoming mail server field, select POP3 from the drop-down list.




  16. In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field, type mail.bellsouth.net.


  17. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server, type mail.bellsouth.net.


  18. Click Next.


  19. The Internet Mail Logon screen displays.

  20. In the Account name field, type your account name.




  21. Note: Your account name is to the left of the @ sign in your e-mail address.


  22. In the Password field, type your BellSouth e-mail password.


  23. Click Next.


  24. The Internet Connection Wizard displays.

  25. Click the radio button beside Connect using my local area network (LAN).




  26. Click Next.


  27. The Congratulations screen displays.

  28. Click Finish.
