Why won't RealPlayer play my file?
If you are trying to play a file in RealPlayer 10, and RealPlayer either won't play it, or checks for an update but there is no update available, make sure RealPlayer can play that type of file.
You can view the list of
Supported Media File Formats in Real Help for additional information.
You can check if RealPlayer 10 can play the file type from within the player itself:
1. Open RealPlayer, then click the
Tools menu and choose
Preferences. The Preferences box opens.
2. Under the
Content category, click
Media Types.
3. In the
Media Types dialog box, choose
Manually configure media types for RealPlayer, then click the
Select button. From the list that appears, look for the types of files you want to play using RealPlayer. If you see your file, select it here.
4. Make sure that
Reapply your media type settings every time RealPlayer starts and
When clicking media in the RealPlayer Media Browser, play in RealPlayer are selected.
5. Click
OK.
6. Restart RealPlayer.
If you don't see your file in the list, check the Web site from which you got the file. Their online support may have further information about what program you need to play the file.
