Why do I get a security error when I try to play my music clips in RealPlayer?

No Summary

If you receive an error message in RealPlayer indicating that a security feature is missing or corrupt, there are two possible causes:

- You are trying to play a clip that was encoded in the secure RealJukebox RMX format. The clip was moved from the computer it was encoded on to the computer you are using.

- You did not restore the RealJukebox security key after you installed RealPlayer on a computer that RealJukebox was installed on.

If the clip came from another computer, play the song on the computer it was originally recorded on. To play the clip on the other computer, restore the security key in RealPlayer from your backup disk.

To restore the security key in RealPlayer:

1. Start RealPlayer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Preferences. The Preferences box opens.
3. In the Category pane, double-click My Library and then click Advanced My Library.
4. Click the Security Key button to open the Security Key window, and then click the Restore Security Key button.
5. Insert a formatted 1.44 MB floppy disk into your floppy disk drive A: and click OK.

Note: If you did not back up the security key onto a disk, if you cannot find the disk, or you do not have a floppy drive, you must record the songs again.

Additional Information:
The default RealJukebox setting for recording music to your computer's hard drive created a secured music file. If the music file is moved to another computer, a security key from the original computer must be installed on the second computer before you can play the file. RealPlayer does not create secured files.
