Why do I get "Missing Plug-in" errors with RealPlayer?
It means the clip you are trying to play uses a format that is not automatically installed with RealPlayer.
If you receive a "Missing plug-in" error message in RealPlayer 10 when you try to play music or video on the Internet, it means the clip you are trying to play uses a format that is not automatically installed with RealPlayer. "Missing plug-in" can also mean that the clip was not created or set up correctly. Manually installing the RealPlayer plug-in software, removing and reinstalling RealPlayer or contacting the Webmaster of the site where the error occurs will usually resolve the problem.
Solution 1: Manually update RealPlayer.
Check to see if RealPlayer has plug-in software that will play the file.
1. In RealPlayer, click the Tools menu and select Check for Update.
2. In the AutoUpdate window, select any applicable plug-ins.
3. Click Drivers and select any applicable items.
4. Click Install. RealPlayer downloads and installs the software.
Check the list of file types that RealPlayer can play; there may not be a plug-in for the file type you are trying to play.
Solution 2: Uninstall and reinstall RealPlayer.
Corrupted installations may cause RealPlayer to fail to recognize its plug-ins. Removing RealPlayer and reinstalling it may resolve this problem.
Solution 3: Notify the Webmaster of the site where the error occurs.
A missing plug-in error can also occur if the content is not designed to be played with RealPlayer, if the content is not designed for your version of RealPlayer, or if the site offering the content has not configured their RealServer or Web server correctly. Please contact the site's Webmaster if this appears to be the issue.
