Why can't I play my clips from the Music & My Library view of RealPlayer?
No Summary
When you play or import files into RealPlayer 10, it creates a list of those files in Music & My Library. This list remains the same until you import or play more clips. If you move, rename, or delete any clips, they'll still appear in the list, but RealPlayer will display a red X symbol in front of the name of each clip it cannot find.
If you try to play these clips, RealPlayer displays a "Clip Not Found" error message. To avoid this message, you can either remove the references to the clips, or tell RealPlayer to try to find the actual clips.
To delete the clip references from RealPlayer:
1. Open RealPlayer.
2. Click Tools on the menu.
3. Select Remove Missing Media.
This removes all clips that RealPlayer can no longer find from your media library. No actual clips are erased from your computer. This feature simply removes the reference to the clip from your library.
If you know that the clip is still somewhere on your computer and you want to find it, then you'll want to create a new reference to the track in its current location.
To find the clips:
1. Open RealPlayer.
2. Select File from the menu.
3. Click Scan Disk For Media. (If a clip has been erased from the hard drive, scanning won't find it.)
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to import the clips to RealPlayer.
RealPlayer stores all information about the clips in its database. When you manually move or delete files from your computer, the changes aren't automatically updated in the RealPlayer database. After you re-import the clips, the database is updated with new clip locations.
