The Addresses Panel When on the Today, Inbox or Calendar View
When on the Today, Inbox, or Calendar view, the Addresses panel will show an alphabetical list of your Address Book contacts by name. Next to each name will be a presence indicator, letting you know whether or not the person is online. If you wish to send the person an e-mail, click the person's name and a new e-mail window will open, already addressed to that person. If you have multiple e-mail addresses associated with the contact, you will need to select an e-mail address first. If you have not set up an e-mail address for the person, a blank e-mail will open, allowing you to manually type it in.
If you click the presence (Running Man®) icon next to the person's name, it will open an AIM instant message (IM) window for that person's screen name. If you have not set up a screen name with that person's contact information in your Address Book, a blank AIM IM window will open, allowing you to type it in. If you have further questions about presence icons, see the article Presence Icons and Instant Messaging on AOL® or AIM® Mail.
The Addresses Panel When on the Addresses View
When you are on the Addresses tab, the Addresses Panel will allow you to customize your Address Book view. You can choose to filter the list by a category, such as family or friends, or you can jump to a last name by clicking a letter. All entries whose last name starts with that letter will be highlighted.
