How to Install DSL Filters for EarthLink DSL & Home Phone Service?

DSL filters reduce noice interference between your phone calls and your DSL signal. Because your DSL signal is active on every phone jack in your home, you will need to install a DSL filter wherever you have something plugged into a jack. This includes any phone, answering machine, fax machine, or TiVo®. DSL filters will reduce the interference between these devices and your DSL signal.

To plug a phone into the jack used by your DSL modem:
- Insert a DSL filter into the open side of your dual-jack adapter.
- Plug the phone cord into the DSL filter.
For all other phone jacks:
- Unplug the phone cord from the phone jack.
- Insert a DSL filter into the phone jack.
Note: If you require more than the three DSL filters included with this kit, please refer to the Quick Start Guide - How to Install EarthLink DSL and Home Phone Service, Article ID 83627.
- Insert the phone cord into the DSL filter.
- Check for a dial tone.
- Repeat steps for each phone (or other device) in your home.
