Procedure

Echo is not specifically related to VoIP service. Echo is created from analog telephone networks (or public switched telephone networks (PSTN)) – not the packet switched network that EarthLink Voice is carried over. If you do hear echo on the line, try the following:

  • Lower the telephone's volume setting.

  • If you are using a speaker phone, pick up the handset.

  • Replace the phone cable from the telephone to the phone jack.

  • Try a different telephone, preferably one with echo-canceling technology.

  • Call a different individual. The echo may be related only to one specific person that you are calling; the problem may be on the other end.
If none of these appear to be the problem, please call EarthLink Technical Support for more help. You may dial 611 from your EarthLink Home Phone to reach our phone menu.
