When you install the AOL® software, it installs an auto start preference. You can customize your auto start preferences or turn the auto start off.

Set Your Auto Start Preferences

The Auto Start option allows you to set a preference for how you would like to start the AOL software or receive notification when an Internet connection is established.

To set your auto start preferences:
1. On the end of the Windows® taskbar near the clock, right-click the AOL® icon, then click Auto Start Options....
2. In the Auto Start AOL window, select your preference for starting the AOL software when an Internet connection is established. The Auto Start options are:

  • Automatically Start AOL: Select this option to if you want the AOL software to start automatically each time an Internet connection is established.
  • Display a dialog asking me if I want to start AOL: Select this option if you want the option of starting the AOL software (via a dialog box) when an Internet connection is established.
  • Blink the AOL tray icon: Select this option if you only want the AOL tray icon to blink in the taskbar each time an Internet connection is established.
  • Don't use any Auto Start options: Select this option to turn off all Auto Start functions.

3. Click the OK button.
