Setting up AOL Software for 10-digit dialing.
My calling area requires Ten-Digit dialing. What do I need to do to set up AOL ISP connection?
If you live in an area that requires 10-digit dialing, you need to set up your AOL® access phone numbers to allow for this option.
Set up Your AOL® Software for Ten Digit Dialing
Ten digit dialing is required in some areas for dialing local telephone numbers. This option is easy to set up in the AOL software.
To set up your AOL software for ten digit dialing in AOL® 9.0 Security Edition:
1. On the AOL® Sign On screen, click the Connect Options button.
2. In the Connect Options window, make sure the dial-up location you wish to update is selected.
3. A list of the access phone numbers for the location displays in the Dial-Up Location Details section of the window. Make sure the area code is included for each access phone number that requires one. If it is not, click the Quick Edit button.
4. For each access phone number that requires an area code, click the Dial Area Code? box to put a check mark in it.
5. Click the Save button. The updated access phone numbers display in the Dial-Up Location Details section.
6. Click the Close button to exit the Connect Options window.
To set up your AOL software for ten digit dialing in AOL® 9.0 Optimized or AOL® 9.0 Optimized SE/LE:
1. On the AOL Sign On screen, click the Sign On Options button.
2. Click the Edit Numbers button.
3. Click the access number to highlight it, then click the Edit button.
4. Click the Dial the Area Code before dialing this access number box to put a check mark in it, click the Apply these changes to all America Online access phone numbers box to put a check mark in it, then click the OK
5. Click the Next button.
6. Click the Sign On to AOL Now button. button.
To set up your AOL software for ten digit dialing in AOL® 6.0, AOL® 7.0, or AOL® 8.0:
1. On the AOL Sign On screen, click the Setup button.
2. Click the Edit Numbers button.
3. In the Numbers (Connections) for this location: section, click the first access number to select it, then click the Edit button.
4. In the Edit number here: box, type the three digit area code in front of the number. If the telephone number isn't showing in this box, type the entire ten digit phone number.
5. Click the OK button.
6. Click the OK button.
To set up your AOL software for ten digit dialing in AOL® for Mac OS® X:
1. On the AOL Sign On screen, click the Setup button.
2. Click the Expert Setup button.
3. Click the access number to select it, then click the Edit button.
4. In the Edit number here: box type the ten digit telephone number, then click the OK button.
5. Click the red button in the upper-left corner to close.
