AOL: How to turn off Call Waiting.
How to turn off Call Waiting while I'm online through AOL ISP connection?
Call waiting can be a convenient feature for your household, but the staggered dial tone that indicates a message is waiting can cause you to lose your connection to the AOL® service if you receive another call while online. To keep incoming calls from breaking your connection to the AOL service, set your options to disable call waiting when you connect.
Deactivate Call Waiting
Select the option to deactivate Call Waiting if you have Call Waiting on your phone line. Edit the code if it is not correct and make sure there is a comma after it. Typical codes for turning off call waiting are *70 for Touch-Tone service and 1170 for rotary service. Contact your local telephone company for the deactivation code in your area. When you sign off of the AOL service, and your modem hangs up the phone, Call Waiting is reactivated.
