If your phone system does not support tone dialing, you will need to indicate this to the AOL software so that it will use pulse dialing to connect to the AOL service.

To setup pulse dialing in AOL® 9.0 Security Edition:
1. On the Sign On screen, click the Connect Options button.
2. In the Connect Options window, make sure your dial-up location is selected and click the Quick Edit button.
3. In the Dial-Up Location Details section, click the Line Type drop-down menu, then select Pulse Dialing.
4. Click the Save button.
5. Click the Close button.

To setup pulse dialing in AOL® 9.0 Optimized or AOL 9.0 Optimized SE/LE:
1. On the Sign On screen, click the Sign On Options button.
2. Click the Edit Numbers button.
3. Click the first access number to highlight it, then click the Edit button.
4. Click the More Dialing Options button.
5. Click the I have a rotary phone, not touch tone service box to put a check mark in it, then click the OK button.
6. Click the OK button.
7. Click the Next button.
8. Click the Sign On to AOL Now button.

To setup pulse dialing in AOL® 6.0, AOL® 7.0, or AOL® 8.0:
1. On the Sign On screen, click the Setup button.
2. Click the Edit Numbers button.
3. In the Numbers (Connections) for this location: section, click the first access number to select it, then click the Edit button.
4. Click the I do not have Touch Tone service box to put a check mark in it, then click the OK button.
5. Click the OK button.
6. Click the Close button.

To setup pulse dialing in AOL® for MAC® OSX:
1. On the Sign On screen, click the Setup button.
2. Click the Expert Setup button.
3. Click the access number to select it, then click the Edit button.
4. Click the Location Dialing Options button.
5. Click the I do not have Touch Tone service box to put a check mark in it, then click the OK button.
6. Click the OK button.
7. Click the Close (red dot) button.
