Setting up Apple AirPort for PPPoE Earthlink DSL.

How to Set Up the Apple AirPort for PPPoE Earthlink DSL Using the AirPort Setup Assistant 3.x

Follow these steps to set up the Apple AirPort for PPPoE DSL using the AirPort Setup Assistant 3.x in Mac OS X.

  1. Open AirPort Setup Assistant.

  2. Note: The AirPort Setup Assistant is in the Utilities folder inside your Applications folder.

  3. Select Set up an AirPort Base Station.
  4. Click the Continue button.

  5. Click the arrow box on the Available AirPort networks pop-up list and choose your AirPort network if available.
  6. Click the Continue button.

  7. In the Password field, type your AirPort network password.
  8. Click the Continue button.

  9. In the Password field, type your AirPort base station password.

    Note: If a password has not been set up on this base station, the default password is public.
  10. Click the Continue button.

  11. Select I am using another Internet Service Provider.
  12. Click the Continue button.

  13. Select Cable Modem or DSL using PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE).
  14. Click the Continue button.

  15. In the Account Name field, type your full EarthLink email address (e.g., johndoe@earthlink.net).
  16. In the Password field, type your EarthLink password.
  17. Click the arrow box on the Disconnect after pop-up list and choose Never.
  18. Check the box next to Automatically connect.
  19. Click the Continue button.

  20. In the Network Name field, type a name for your AirPort network.
  21. Click the arrow box on the Wireless Security pop-up list and choose 128 bit WEP.
  22. In the Network Password field, type a password for your AirPort network.
  23. In the Verify Password field, type the password again.
  24. Click the Continue button.

  25. Select Use the same password.
  26. Click the Continue button.
