EarthLink DSL Connection Problems - Basic Check List
Read this article to troubleshoot the connection problems in Earthlink DSL.
DSL
- Try turning your computer and modem completely off for 30 seconds and starting again.
- If your modem does not have an on/off switch, unplug it from the electrical wall outlet
- Turn your modem on first and wait 15 seconds before turning on your computer
- Make sure your log in information is accurate.
- When you log in, use your entire EarthLink email address (e.g., johndoe@earthlink.net)
- Note: The user name and password are case sensitive. Make sure that Caps Lock is OFF!
- Forgotten your password? Go to https://myaccount.earthlink.net/cam/passmain.jsp to reset it.
- Information can take up to 20 minutes to post in our system.
- If you're a new customer, you may need to wait
- If you've just changed your password, the old one still may work.
- If the lights on your modem are not steady:
- Make sure your modem is not near or on top of other electrical devices such as speakers, your monitor, a halogen lamp or a cordless phone or the phone base.
- If you have other devices using the same telephone line as your DSL service (including telephones!) make sure DSL filters are applied.
- If you still can not connect, try disconnecting all other devices on the phone line.
