Can I manage e-mail messages using multiple e-mail programs with my internet connection?

You can manage your e-mails using multiple e-mail programs or even multiple computers.

Accessing emails through email programs like Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger is the most convenient and easiest way. However, if you use multiple email programs to access mail from your internet service provider, you find that your messages are scattered across both programs.

The reason is, most email programs download email from your ISP to your local computer, removing messages from the ISP’s mail server. Once your e-mail has been downloaded and removed, the next time you check your mail, you only download messages that have arrived since the previous check.

How you wish you could manage your emails using multiple email programs or even multiple computers with your internet service. Well, it is quite possible to do so and the solution is simple -- set your email program(s) to leave a copy of the message on the server.

The following steps describe how to leave a copy of your e-mail messages on the server using Outlook Express.
  • Open Outlook Express.

  • Click on Tools > Accounts.

  • In the Mail tab of your Internet Accounts window, highlight your email account.

  • Click Properties.

  • Click on the Advanced tab.

  • In the Delivery area, check the box called Leave a copy of messages on server.

  • Click Apply > OK to return to Outlook Express.

  • From now on, you can access your emails from multiple email programs and multiple computers.
