How do I use my ipod as a hard drive?
How to put iPod into Disk Mode?
Switch the way your iPod appears to your computer and use it like a floppy disk/portable hard drive.
Through iTunes: ►

You'll see a slider that allows you to set how much disk space is allocated to music and data. |

Through the iPod (not connected):

Your iPod will now show up as another disk drive under My Computer. Double click on it to open it. You'll see a handful of files. DON'T ALTER THESE! This is all the stuff that make the iPod run.
To be extra safe you can create a new folder and save your stuff in it (File > New > Folder).
