Update the iPod software.

If you can update/reload the iPod software, this may fix the problem that froze your iPod. This step will not affect the songs on your iPod.

First off, you'll need the latest version of iTunes.

If you don't have it already, go into iTunes, click Help and select Check for Updates.

After you are all nice and updated....

1. Connect the iPod to your computer and open iTunes (if not already open).
   
2. iTunes will see if a newer version of the iPod software is available, and prompt you to download and install it.
   
3. Follow any instructions that might come up.
   
4. The iPod display will display an Apple logo and a progress bar.
   
5. When this is completed, eject the iPod and check if it is now working.
