Power cycling your High Speed Internet modem:

If you suddenly lose connectivity over your High Speed Internet line, have a slow connection or are unable to browse the Internet despite indications that you are connected, it is possible that your modem is not communicating properly with the Internet network.

Power cycling your High Speed Internet modem is the first step to resolving your connection problem.

You can save time by following these steps before contacting your ISP for technical support.
  • Turn your High Speed Internet modem off.

  • Save all your current work, close all open applications, then shut down your computer and disconnect all other devices - leave everything off for at least 10 seconds.

  • With your computer off, connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the modem.

  • Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your computer.

  • Plug the DSL filter into the phone jack nearest to your DSL modem.

  • Plug one end of the DSL cable into the filter port labeled 'DSL/HPNA'.

  • If you have a phone, fax machine, analog modem or other phone device in this location, plug it into the side of the filter that is labeled 'PHONE'.

Note: When installing DSL filters throughout your household, be sure that you do not plug any phone device into the filter port labeled 'DSL/HPNA' except for your DSL modem.

  • Plug the other end of the DSL cable into the DSL port of your modem.

  • Plug the power adapter to a power outlet and plug the other end of the power cable into your DSL modem.

  • Now turn your computer and modem back on, and connect to the Internet.

  • The Internet Connection will start working.
