Error 691 and how to resolve it
When I try to connect to my dial-up networking the computer displays 'Error 691'. How to resolve it?
This article tells you what to do if you have problems connecting to the Internet or the computer refuses to accept your password.
Line noise, a conflict, equipment failure such as a router, or an invalid password may cause Dial-Up Networking to produce one of the following error messages:

When you see either of the above, then:
- Try connecting again.
- Verify that the user name and password are correct (correct case, correct spacing and correct realms if the site requires realms authentication).
- If it is Windows NT, make sure that nothing is typed in the DOMAIN field of the username/password/domain box.
- Make sure that logon to network is not checked in the connectoid properties.
- Reboot the computer and try again.
Note: If the problem still persists, click on Start.
- 1.Go to Search > For Files or Folders.

- 2. Rename all *.pwl files to *.att.

- 3. Alternatively, delete all .pwl files and reboot.
Once this process is complete, the problem should be completely resolved!
