Creating an Address List using Outlook Express.

Learn how you can create a grouped email distribution (address) list through Outlook Express.

With email becoming a very convenient, cost-effective and faster mode of correspondence, no wonder we are using it extensively these days. Sending a message to multiple recipients in one go is a unique feature of email. Still, you may find typing numerous addresses quite an irksome task. That is, if you are not aware of the feature that creates an Address List. This does away with the repetitive task of typing email addresses whenever you send a mail to a group of recipients. What you do here is create a single email address for a common group.
An address list is a shortcut that includes many addresses within one e-mail. You can build lists from stored addresses, addresses that are not stored, shortcuts, and other lists.

The following is an example of an address list:

List name = musicgroup

Musicgroup contains the following addresses:
jane@yahoo.com
sid@yahoo.com
liz@yahoo.com

When you compose a message and put the string musicgroup in the To field of the Compose page, the e-mail will go to all three users at once.

To create an address list like the one above , do the following:

  • Access and log into web e-mail.

  • Go to Tools > Address Book.

  • On the Address Book page, click Add New Contact.

  • In the Display Name field, type the name of the address list.

  • In the E-Mail field, type the email addresses you want in the list, separated by commas.

  • Click OK.

  • Now your Address List is ready.
