I get a message "iTunes:iTunes.exe - Corrupt File" when I connect my iPod
Windows throws this error message and prompts to run Chkdsk utility.
Although this may seem scary, it really isn't that big of a deal. All software programs run the chance of getting corrupted and the iPod even more so since it's portable and gets lots of use.
The first thing to do is to make sure you're running the latest version of iTunes (download it here)
or
use the Apple Software Update program
- Click Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update.
If you have the option to update the iPod, go ahead and try that. This may fix the corrupted section and you won't have to erase all the songs on the iPod.
If you can't update the iPod through iTunes, try the iPod Updater program:
- Start > (all) Programs > iPod Updater (folder) > iPod Updater (most recent date).
If that didn't fix it, restore the iPod. This will erase everything on the iPod (i.e. deletes all songs) and put a fresh copy of the software on it.
► Note:To avoid this problem in the future, always properly eject your iPod and wait for the "Ok to disconnect" message before removing the cable.
