I want to connect my iPod to several computers.

How to manage an iPod used at both home and work, or between a laptop and desktop.

No probs people.  As long as both machines have the same OS (Windows or OS X), all you have to do is switch the iPod to "Manually manage.."

Connect  your iPod to the main computer, the one with the songs you want.

Select the iPod in the Source list, under the Summary tab.

Check the box next to "Manually manage songs and videos".

When you connect the iPod to the second machine, you may get one of these messages:
  • "The iPod "iPod" is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?"
  • "An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPod with the contents of this iTunes library."

â–ºNote: Do not let this erase/sync happen! Click Cancel.

Check under the Summary tab again

Select "Manually manage..." again (if not already checked).

Now use iTunes/iPod as you normally would.

Your best bet to connect an iPod to several different computers without messing it up is to use an iPod manager (= not iTunes or similar programs that synchronize the music that is on the computer with the one of the iPod).
You can find a pretty complete list of them here http://ipodmanagers.blogspot.com/
