Outlook has slowed down and I get failure messages when emailing to multiple addresses.

Read this article and learn how to identify the reason for delivery failure messages on your Outlook.

There could be several instances which might point to this problem.  You can do the following to troubleshoot them:

To identify your problem, here's what you can do:
  1. On your keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and select Task Manager.

  2. Click on Processes tab.

  3. Click on title "CPU" .This sorts all the process running on your computer by percentage. (The process using a lot of memory shows up on the top).

  4. Typically the top process should be "System Idle Process" with a usage somewhere in the 90+ range.
(Note: If it's not at the top, click on CPU once again so that it shows up)

Now comes the tricky part:

  • Carefully watch the process list as it changes around.
  • Processes like taskmgr.exe, explorer.exe and your virus detection should pop to 2nd place on the list.
  • They usually take only a small percentage of CPU memory (less than 5%).
  • If you're getting a delay of several seconds when typing there may be a hidden process that will pop up to the top of the list (or a very high percentage) that's hogging all the computer resources.
  • Another way of looking at it is to click on the "Mem Usage" title to resort the list again and see the top memory processes.
  • For the most part you should recognize the top few (it depends on which applications you're running).
  • If there is a big memory hog in there that you don't recognize, you can guess that to be the potential culprit.
Slow speed problems generally crop up when there is:
  • Low memory due to running multiple applications.
Close and restart Outlook again and see whether it takes care of your problem.
  • Low disk space.
Try to clean up the temporary files.
Follow the steps below to do this.
    • From your task pane, click Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools.
    • Select Disk Clean-up.
    • Select your C: drive and clean it up.

  • Malware or Trojan Viruses.
To clean, follow the steps below:
  1. Download a free software called House Call by TrendMicro.  Which searches and cleans out any Trojan viruses on your computer)
  2. Next, Download AdAware and run it on your computer (This is a free spyware program which would clean up your spyware (if any) on your PC)
Your emails to multiple addresses will now reach at lightening speed:)
