I am unable to send large email attachments in Outlook Express.

This article tells you how to configure Outlook Express so that you can send large email attachments.

Most free email accounts allow you to only send or receive attachments which are around 1 MB in size. If you subscribe to an Internet service, you may be entitled to send and receive mail attachments around 10 MB in size, and that is the limit set by many ISPs.
This means, it is not possible to send a mail that is larger than 10 MB in size. Receiving mail is also restricted to 10 MB. Therefore, if you have to send a 15 MB attachment via email you may have to break apart the email into two separate but linked email attachments. The file attachments will be sent as two linked files and once downloaded, they will be rebuilt as one file. To do this you must be using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.

We will discuss below how to set up Outlook Express to send large email attachments.
  • Open Outlook Express. Click on Tools > Accounts.

  • The Internet Accounts window pops up and you see the Mail tab in the foreground.

  • Click on Properties.

  • You will reach the email properties window. Select the Advanced tab.

  • Towards the bottom of the window you will find a section called Sending. You will see a box that is labeled Break apart messages larger than.  Check the box.

  • To the right of that box, you will see another box with up and down arrows. Click the up arrow until you see 9000 displayed.

  • Click Apply and then OK.

  • From now on you will be able to send large  email attachments through  Outlook  Express.

This solution still has limitations because if you are sending a very large email attachment then in all likelihood your email server or your recipient's email server won't be able to handle it. An alternative solution is to use Tonsho Tonsho With this service you can still use your email program as normal but you can send really large files- their servers strip out the attachment, send the original email to the recipient with a link to click on to download the file (which can be password protected). This means that their inbox doesn't get clogged with a really large file or worst still, gets bounced back to you undelivered.
