This article explains how to create Profiles on Xbox.
After you switch on your Xbox 360, you need to complete the initial setup. In this process you need to:

If this is your first Xbox or you never had a Xbox Live account, you can create a new account after selecting your console language. Here's how you do it: On the Gamer Profile screen, select I Want to Join Xbox Live. Press A.

- Type in to create your gamer profile name and press Start button.
- Highlight the Done button on your controller. Press A.

Creating an Xbox Live profile:
Important: You need a high-speed Internet connection for Xbox Live.
Before you connect:
- Ensure that your Xbox 360 console is connected to your home network or high-speed Internet modem.
- Make sure the Internet connection is working.
The Xbox Live setup steps depend on whether you're already an Xbox Live member.
For an existing Xbox Live account:
You can just add your Xbox Live account to your gamer profile after you select the Xbox 360 console's language.
- On the Gamer Profile screen, use the left direction key on the controller to scroll down to I Am a Member of Xbox Live. Press A.
- Press A to open the Keyboard screen, enter your current gamertag.
- Enter your gamertag exactly the way you're currently using it. (Your gamertag is case-sensitive. If your gamertag includes capital letters, you must use the same capital letters to retrieve your gamertag.)
- If you want to use a Microsoft .NET Passport account with Xbox Live, follow the on-screen instructions.
Follow these steps below to join Xbox Live:
If this is your first Xbox or you never had a Xbox Live account, you can create a new account after selecting your console language. Here's how you do it: On the Gamer Profile screen, select I Want to Join Xbox Live. Press A.
- Scroll to Join Xbox Live. Press A.
- Select Yes. Press A to continue.
- Key in your gamertag and press Start. Xbox Live will check your selected gamertag:
- If the name isn't available, you're prompted to try another name. (remember that your gamer tag is case-sensitive. Do not forget to add capital letters if your gamertag has one)
- If the gamertag is accepted, you are automatically prompted to link to your Passport account.
- Select your current Passport account status:
- Yes, I do (this means you have a Passport account).
(After you sign in to an existing Passport account, you can skip to Step 16). - No, Create One (you don't have a Passport account).
- Yes, I do (this means you have a Passport account).
- If you select option 2 you can now choose your Locale.
- Set the preferred language.
- Set your birth date.
- Enter your e-mail address.
- Select a password, a secret question, and a secret answer.
- Select Next and press A.
- Enter your first name, last name, phone number, and contact e-mail address.
- Read the Terms of Use.
- To accept the terms, select Accept and press A.
- Important: If you don't accept the Terms of Use, you can't create an Xbox Live account.
- Pick your Xbox Live membership type. When creating a new Xbox Live account, you have two options:
- The Gold (paid) account will let you in on multiplayer games on Xbox Live.
- The Silver (free) account will let you download game updates and purchase new content through Xbox Live.
- Confirm your account details (if you choose Xbox Gold).
- Choose a gamer picture.
- Choose your level.
- Decide whether you want to subscribe to e-mail information about Xbox Live.
